Artist Statement

"Finding Balance" describes the mentality I have when creating art. I often begin painting or collaging with a general idea, but I follow the flow of the brush and see what emerges. I edit and modify the work until it feels just right. I am drawn to bright colors and contrast in my art. Creating art is a pleasure, and finding balance is how I know when a work is complete.

Finding Balance is:
Layering and Layering
Collaging, Rearranging, Starting over
Painting Over
Finding Weight
Finding Thickness Of Line
When a painterly stroke scratches across the canvas and shouldn’t be painted a second time
When colors drip and spill in just the right way
When stacked items create interesting negative space
Finding Completion

BIO

Ever since I was little, I have always loved making things. I drew constantly, and as I entered middle and high school, it became my elective focus. In college, I started painting large canvases and haven't stopped since. I grew up on the east coast and moved to San Francisco in 2010 to begin my career as a professional artist. I began showcasing my work in local cafés, donating paintings to charity art auctions, and selling pieces through my Instagram page. Soon after, I was invited to participate in my first group gallery shows, local open studios events, and eventually had my first solo exhibition.

Since then, I've had the opportunity to create the entire set and props for a musical, design company logos, design music stages for large events, and paint murals across San Francisco. If you're interested in something for your home or workspace, please reach out.
